With a 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday—their third straight Premier League triumph—Matheus Cunha, Casemiro, and two goals from Bryan Mbeumo demonstrated Manchester United's progress under coach Ruben Amorim.
Cunha scored United's opening goal in the 24th minute with a brilliant shot into the bottom corner, hoping to build on last weekend's first victory against Liverpool since 2016. Before Charalampos Kostoulas' header in stoppage time guaranteed a nerve-wracking conclusion at Old Trafford, Danny Welbeck's incredible free kick against his old team gave Brighton a response. Mbeumo fired a beautiful shot into the roof of the goal to move United to fourth place in the rankings as Brighton sent everyone forward in an attempt to equalize. Brighton remained in 12th place. Given that Brighton has won more league games against United than any other side since the 2021–22 season began, the visitors presented a significant challenge for a United that is getting better.
