Paris Saint-Germain narrow 1-0 win at Nantes

Vitinha’s deflected strike gave Paris Saint-Germain a narrow 1-0 win at Nantes to begin their Ligue 1 title defence on Sunday. Luis Enrique’s side dominated possession in the opening stages but found Nantes’ defence hard to break down. Their best first-half chance came when Gonçalo Ramos drilled a shot from a tight angle that crashed off the crossbar just before the interval.

With the game still goalless after the hour, Vitinha tried his luck from distance, and his effort looped in via a huge deflection to hand PSG the breakthrough. Moments later, the Portuguese midfielder set up Ramos to smash home a second, but VAR chalked it off for offside in the build-up. PSG ultimately had to rely on fortune to escape with three points, but they’ll hope to sharpen up quickly as they chase a fifth straight Ligue 1 crown.
