Barca confident of De Jong extension amid agent situation

While legal formalities are still pending, both parties show mutual willingness to agree on a renewal. Barcelona are calm about Frenkie de Jong's contract renewal, despite some bureaucratic hurdles. The Dutch midfielder, who turned 28 on 12 May, is still keen to extend his contract with the Blaugrana.

However, according to Sport, the renewal cannot go ahead until De Jong formally dissociates himself from Ali Dursun, his agent since his days at Ajax Amsterdam. The Turkish agent has become a sticking point between the parties, as Barcelona do not currently recognise him as a valid interlocutor to negotiate the contract extension.

De Jong ruled out an offer from Manchester United in the summer of 2022, demonstrating his priority to stay at the club and about this fact an acknowledged Italian pundit of transfer market had sensationally failed in his well-spread previews.
