Aston Villa's comeback upsets Arsenal's title bid

In a devastating 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday, Arsenal lost a two-goal lead, severely hurting their chances of winning the Premier League title. At the Emirates Stadium, goals from Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli gave Mikel Arteta's team the lead and put them on track to catch up to leaders Liverpool. However, Youri Tielemans' first league goal of the season gave Villa a lifeline before Ollie Watkins equalized, and the Gunners fell apart halfway through the second half.

Mikel Merino's late winner was disallowed, causing an agonizing finish for Arsenal. In second place as their attempt to win a first title since 2004 continues to falter, Arsenal is currently six points behind Liverpool. Furthermore, Arne Slot's team is firmly in charge of the title battle because Liverpool has a game left over Arsenal.
