Benitez warns Madrid about Sissoko

Florentino Perez's team has a bad rep of doing everything on the last day of the transfer window, they made a huge fool of themselves a couple seasons ago when David de Gea wasn't able to get transferred due to a logistics problem with a misplaced fax. With this in mind, they are now attempting to sign French midfielder Moussa Sissoko but they are not exactly moving fast with the negotiations.

Manager Rafael Benitez who has Sissoko at Newcastle United, knows that many teams will probably want to take the player. But if Real Madrid wants to get the midfielder, they should not think they are the only ones after him. Talking to BBC Sport, Benitez said: "If someone thinks if they will wait until August 31 it will be easier, I can guarantee them it will be more difficult. If someone wants to come, they have to come now with the right offer and we will analyze that. If not, he is still our player and he carries on working hard.

"Every day will be more difficult because we are happy with him and we don't have to sell. I told Moussa we know how things work in modern football and that is not the right way. I said, 'You are a professional, you are our player, I rate you very highly and I like you as a person - keep working hard and let other people do their business'."

Sissoko also spoke to the BBC on Thursday: "I hope Real will come for me, I'm still waiting. If Real Madrid are interested in you then of course you will be happy, but right now I am still a Newcastle player."
