Brighton defeat Newcastle 3-0

Brighton sealed their victory in the first seven minutes of the game when Newcastle conceded two goals to Neal Maupay. Later the Magpies surrendered to Aaron Connolly as he smashed home the third Seagulls goal with just seven minutes left in the game. Newcastle should count themselves as lucky as the gap was not larger with Trossard joining the squad in the second half and Seagulls’ just seemed intent on their purpose to win the game.

Steve Bruce’s team line up did not faze Brighton for even a second-neither Allan Saint-Maximin nor Andy Carroll pushed pass Brighton, and Newcastle was hoping to make this their second victory after West Ham. Tariq Lamptey made Brighton seem invincible as he made his home debut by causing problems for Jamal Lewis right from the start. Jeff Hendrick was later deployed as well over to the left flank in an attempt to provide some protection for Lewis but the 19-year-old wing-back was untamable.
