Capello demands true leaders in Barcelona

Italian manager Fabio Capello has never been one of those guys that can stay quiet when something important happens in football, Barcelona's shocking level drop is good enough reason for him to give his opinion on what it really is tampering with the club's objectives this season. According to the former manager, the Catalan club lacks true leaders that have the courage to give hell to the players who get distracted or overwhelmed by the situation.

Talking about the five matches in which Barcelona have lost a 10-point lead over second place Atletico and has also gotten eliminated from the Champions League by the same side, Capello said: "This time, the comeback has happened really quickly. Barca have lost a lot of points and are now in great difficulty. When we did it, we went step by step, quietly, right up until the last day of the season. You can't tell what will happen now and it's possible that Barca will get back on track, both physically and mentally," said Capello in front of Carles Puyol and other former players at the Laureus Awards press conference.

And the solution for the Italian manager is quite simple, they need a real leader whose voice is heard and respected by everyone inside the locker room. The off-the field problems some of the players have shown are proof that there is no one to put order among so many stars: "But I think they need a captain in the mould of Puyol to pull them along. There are moments when a coach can try something, but it all counts for nothing if there is no real leader in the dressing room. When Juventus struggled this season, [Gianluigi] Buffon and [Giorgio] Chiellini stepped up to turn things around."
