Crystal Palace's 2-0 victory over Newcastle

Crystal Palace's 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Wednesday guaranteed them a spot in the Premier League. In the aftermath of recent triumphs against West Ham and Liverpool, Jean-Philippe Mateta scored for the fifth time in as many home games to seal the victory and Palace's comeback under Oliver Glasner.

Mateta scored a goal in the 55th minute to break the scoreless draw at Selhurst Park, and he later added another to put an end to Newcastle's four-game winning streak. Palace is 14 points above the relegation zone and ranked 14th in the rankings. Luton, now ranked eighteenth, has four games left. After a deft one-two with Jordan Ayew, Mateta gave Palace the lead before sliding home a shot. In their last seven encounters with Newcastle, it was Palace's first goal.
