Davids defends Neymar form backlash

Lately in Spain, the press from the whole country has turned their back on Brazilian Neymar due to his life style. The constant trips and parties in a moment where FC Barcelona are not going through their best form of the season, is something nobody likes and take as a direct way to offend the customs inside a professional club like Barcelona.

But what those sectors of the press don't see, is that Barcelona's current form is not Neymar's fault. The Brazilian has always been the same since he arrived and he hasn't really had a huge level drop on this part of the season. Granted, he hasn't been the same from 2015 but during any mach he is one of those players who don't shy away from asking for the ball and always keep trying to hurt the rival.

Talking at the International Champions Cup lunch this Tuesday, Dutchman Edgar Davids defended the Barcelona star: "If you are Neymar or [Lionel] Messi or Suarez, people expect every week back-to-back goals or brilliant performances. Let's be honest, they're human. Neymar did fantastic last season and it's only human to have a little bit of a slump, but it's still there for him to finish the season on top."

About FC Barcelona's chance to win La Liga this season with Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid breathing down their necks, Davids is confident the Catalan club still has a huge chance to win the tournament: "La Liga seems tight, but still Barcelona are Barcelona and they will always have an opportunity to win. They're a bit sloppy lately but I'm confident that they will be able to defend it."
