Figo doesn't forget his Barcelona days

All Barcelona fans have a fresh memory of the time when Luis Figo played for Barcelona and then decided to make a shocking move to sworn enemy Real Madrid, then president Florentino Perez convinced him of making the hard choice and since then he has been hated by the fans and the press in Catalonia. Then he won the champions League playing for Real Madrid and since then, Figo decided to not grant any interviews to the Barcelona press for treating him like a traitor. But being a sportsman throughout all his life, Luis Figo has never gotten any joy over Barcelona's bad moments.

The Portuguese has always been respectful of all the clubs he's ever played for, he has absolutely nothing against the club but the people who have always hated on him. During a media day for the prestigious Laureus awards, a Catalan female reporter asked him to analyze FC Barcelona's struck of bad luck. At first he was reluctant to respond, but after breaking the ice he did.

"I don't normally speak with the Catalan press but I'll make an exception because you are beautiful," he joked with a female Catalan reporter. "What's happened to Barca isn't normal. To lose so many games in a row is not logical, but when you're in that situation, everything goes wrong. These are issues in the dynamic, it doesn't only depend on the quality of players. But the league is open and anything can happen. Things get tense and you have less of a margin for error, and that's when you see the character of teams."

"I don't celebrate when other teams lose, it doesn't bring me any happiness. I'm a sportsman, I have nothing against Barca - but you [the press] have something against me. I spent five amazing years there, I went for sporting and financial reasons and for a lack of recognition. Honestly, on Saturday I played golf, on Sunday I played golf, and my life does not depend on Barca or Madrid. I'm happier doing other things."
