It must feel amazing being a 323,002 inhabitant country, getting dissed by Cristiano Ronaldo on game one after salvaging a draw against Portugal, and then getting the second spot above Ronaldo himself. But surely it must feel even better, taking your debutant national team to a European Championship's round of 16 for the first time in history. Their rival will be England, which can be considered as the toughest place in the bracket for the tournament.
Maybe after this surprising victory against Austria, Iceland can already say they did their job, but surely they want more than just that and the English will struggle like Portugal did next Monday. One of the team's heroes, Arnason, spoke to the press after the victory and expressed the feeling of a whole nation against the idea of facing England next: "I've always supported England in the big international tournaments when we haven't been playing. It's a dream come true. We're going to go into this game with full force. We go into the game to get a result. We believe in our ability."
"I can't really describe this feeling. To do this with your best friends is fantastic. This is the feeling of all the lads in the group. We are a tightly knit group and what we have done is fantastic. It is extra fun to do it alongside my best friends and these supporters as well - 10,000 people from Iceland, it's unbelievable. It's like having your family at the game. I know probably 50 percent of them."
