Iceland warns they shouldn't be underestimated

So far in the competition, it has been a sweet story for debutant side Iceland who have a population of 323,000 inhabitants. They not only have managed to qualify to the round of 16 where they will face England, they also managed to do it in second place of their group above Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal who dissed them after the first game of the tournament. The Portuguese's words resonated hard inside the players' heads pushing them to get another draw in the second game and an unexpected victory against Austria in the last one.

For midfielder Birkir Bjarnason the moment in which Iceland scored that winning goal against Austria, there is a famous commentator who follows every match of the team who went bananas during the celebrations. The player recognized the journalist and spoke about the moment of pure joy which got famous around the world: "Every time he is commentating he is very enthusiastic. We are getting used to it. He's always like this when he's commentating on games. It's making games exciting to watch."

He recognized that the moment was something inevitable to follow with all the social media upbringing: "Yeah of course, we've followed it. With social media you can't avoid it. We tried to focus as much as we can on ourselves. We started yesterday to prepare ourselves for the game against England. We want to get a good result against England. We can't be focused on past celebrations."

The player also joked about trading shirts with Wayne Rooney after the England match and sent the Three Lions a warning: "If he asks me, I'll give him my shirt. Of course, he's a great player and has been an important player for England for many years. He hasn't played his best game at the tournament yet and hopefully, he won't against us. If you underestimate us, of course it's a mistake. But I think we've shown we can beat anyone, so we shouldn't be underestimated."
