There are now just two more choices on the Nerazzurri radar following Roberto De Zerbi's decision to remain with Marseille, despite Inter having already begun negotiations to bring Cesc Fabregas to San Siro to succeed Simone Inzaghi as head coach. Following a Tuesday meeting of the club's top management, Inter has declared that Inzaghi has resigned as head coach by mutual consent.
Three days after Inter's 5-0 Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain, and four years to the day after his first appointment, the 49-year-old is leaving. It is expected that Inzaghi will move to Saudi Arabia in order to take over as head coach of Al-Hilal. Inter will require a new head coach of their own for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins in mid-June, now that Inzaghi is gone.
