Inter had an unpredictable 2022–23 campaign. Only one top-half team lost more league games than Nerazzurri did last season, thus Simone Inzaghi's team may have been fortunate to secure a coveted third place. They did take some solace in winning the Coppa Italia for the second time in a row, though. Given their successful European campaign last year, it's strange that Inter didn't make more moves throughout the transfer window. Yann Sommer and Davide Frattesi must step up to replace the positions left vacant by the departures of Andre Onana and Marcelo Brozovic. Edin Dzeko's transfer to Fenerbahce and Romelu Lukaku's return to Chelsea should be made up for by Marcus Thuram and Marko Arnautovic.
In contrast to their hosts, Monza's Serie A first season last year saw them gain the affection of neutral fans. Raffaele Palladino's club scored the second-highest number of points in Serie A history for a top-flight newcomer while finishing in the lower reaches.
