Back when Germany won the 2014 World Cup, a journalist asked forward Thomas Muller about the Ballon d'Or and how important it was for him to get nominated for it. He responded with neglect and in a rude manner, letting the journalist know that he doesn't care about individual awards, only the collective ones. But Thomas Muller has been consistent with his performances with both Germany and Bayern, it isn't crazy to think about him being nominated for the award in the future and maybe even winning it.
In a world polarized by two incredible players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Thomas Muller has a real chance this season, of actually being considered to win the award as long as Bayern manage to win the Champions League with him having a starring role in the tournament. They have practically secured the Bundesliga title which they might win if the defeat Herta Berlin this weekend, and they also have secured the Pokal final. Another treble is on the horizon, Muller needs to step up against Atletico Madrid like ha has done all season in the big games.
For teammate Javier Martinez, it's not crazy to assume that Muller can be considered in the final podium of the prestigious award: "Thomas should be considered for the Ballon d'Or. He has done some fantastic things over the past few years. Not just at international level at World Cups and European championships, but also at club level. He will definitely be on the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or and he will be getting closer to top spot step by step."
Martinez also agreed that Arturo Vidal has been very important for the club in the Champions League: "Arturo is possibly our most important and decisive player in the Champions League. He runs a lot, wins his personal duels and is very dangerous going forward. His aggressive attitude is a real plus for us. He always gives his all. He is enjoying himself out there and is a big threat to any opponent. Sometimes he has to control his temper, though."
