England manager Roy Hodgson, confirmed that he will have a difficult time selecting his final squad for the upcoming European Championship in France. This Saturday a test against World Champions Germany was a perfect test to see just how well the English can do against a top level foe. The Germans dominated the game during the first hour of the match, but then suddenly appeared Kane and Vardy to set things straight.
The first half was mostly dominated by Germany, a beautiful solo goal by Toni Kroos in the 42nd minute from outside the box sent the match to half time with Joachim Low's team on the lead. The second half started with a lot of ball control by Germany, Mario Gomez even scored the second after getting a pass from Khedira over the English defense on the 57th minute. Gomez's header seemed to finalize things but the English were going to respond hard.
Just four minutes after Germany's second goal, Harry Kane did a perfect turn around inside the box to fool the defensive line and sent a right foot whiplash shot to the bottom corner to pull one back for England. After this goal, Germany seemed to run out of gas because all the offensive plays came from the English. Jamie Vardy was getting ready to make his entrance right at the perfect moment, he got in with 20 minutes to go still. But it only took him four minutes to leave his mark. A cross from Dele Alli coming from the right met Vardy inside the box, his finish was a surprising back heel attempt that got into Neuer's bottom corner and just like that England leveled the match.
The last 15 minutes of the game were all for England, who fought until the very end and got their reward on the very last minute of the match. A corner kick taken by Henderson met Dier's head to get that winner for the English, who defeated the Germans in Berlin in a fantastic last 20 minutes of the mach. You add Wayne Rooney to this amazing team and you got yourself a title contender hands down. As for Vardy and Kane, both secured their spot in the roster for the Euros with today's performance.
