Arguably the biggest flop at this European Championship, French midfielder Paul Pogba has massively disappointed every single pundit and person who was rooting for him to become the best player in the tournament. Apart from that assist he gave against Germany in the semifinal and that goal against Iceland, Pogba just came to this competition mostly as a spectator. His agent Mino Raiola is now seen as a true mad man for asking €165 million for his transfer.
This Sunday in the final, Pogba didn't appear at the most crucial moment when his country needed him. This takes a massive amount of point from his transfer card, but there are many TV pundits and experts who had already predicted that Pogba is nowher near the level of French legends such as Zidane or Platini. At only 23-years ol, Pogba still has a lot to prove and mature as a professional. TV Pundit Gary Lineker wrote a piece about Pogba on the Sunday Mail.
He said: "Paul Pogba is still very young at 23. He's far from a Zinedine Zidane or a Michel Platini at present. He could turn into that. You can see there's a lot of ability there. He covers the ground well, his technique is very good and he's a threat in the air. It's whether he takes the next step up to be a great player. He clearly has bags of potential. In Britain, we're more guilty than anyone at getting carried away with players before they realize their potential. While £100m is a lot for a transfer fee, if he moves, his value is what people are prepared to pay. If there's that money around and a lot of clubs fighting for the same player then there is an auction effect and people pay above the odds."
