Marseille could still be forced into signing forward Joaquin Correa

Correa left Inter to join Marseille in the summer. The 29-year-old attacker, who previously played for Lazio and Sevilla, came on loan. At the end of the season, Marseille may be required under the terms of the loan to sign Correa permanently.

That option would become active upon qualifying for the Champions League the following season. Furthermore, Marseille is now four points off of fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings. That means there's a good chance the French powerhouses qualify for the Champions League that way. Marseille, however, is still competing in the Europa League. Next month, they play Benfica in the quarterfinals. Thus, that presents an additional possibility for the Ligue 1 team to qualify for Europe's premier club championship. In other words, Marseille has no plans to permanently sign Correa from Inter.
