Adrien Rabiot played a starring role as Marseille edged Toulouse 3-2 to reclaim second place in Ligue 1 on Sunday. The midfielder scored a superb volley and set up another as Marseille bounced back from three consecutive defeats. The win came just a day after rivals Paris Saint-Germain sealed a record 13th title with six games remaining.
Marseille are now two points clear of Monaco in third and three ahead of Strasbourg in fourth, as the race for Champions League qualification heats up. Lyon, resurgent in form, sit just one point behind Strasbourg in fifth. The top three secure automatic UCL spots, while fourth enters qualifying. Coach Roberto De Zerbi had expressed frustration with Marseille’s inconsistency, but the team responded well. “The coach was angry, but that’s his job,” said Rabiot. “No one gave up—we trained harder and tonight, we delivered.”
