Max Johnston Drops Major Hint on Sunderland Transfer

Although competition for his signature has reportedly increased in recent days, with clubs in Germany, France, and Italy all reportedly keen to secure a deal, the Black Cats have been linked to a move for the twice-capped Scotland international in recent weeks after he impressed for Austrian Bundesliga club Sturm Graz.

Along with Ligue 1 teams Lens, Toulouse, and Reims, the Bundesliga trio Augsburg, Mainz, and Union Berlin have been identified as interested parties. The most unexpected interest, though, is reportedly coming from Napoli, the current Serie A champions, who have already had success adding Scottish players to their roster following the impressive performances of Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour in their title victory. With growing interest and speculation about his future, Johnston has shared his goals and revealed what Sturm told him after his move from Motherwell in summer 2023.
