Messi takes over Mestalla in controversial match

Spanish referee Undiano Mallenco will surely get suspended after yet another one of his latest dismal performances, this Saturday he took care of the Valencia-Barcelona match in Mestalla and it was a true horror show. First of all, he didn't see a violent tackle on Andres Iniesta which broke the player's knee ligament and took him off the game on a stretcher. He also didn't show double bookings both sides and didn't call a penalty in Valencia's favor, it was a frankly complicated match to referee.

Messi opened the score sheet with a controversial shot in which Luis Suarez was in clear off side but Undiano Mallenco didn't call it. Then on the second half, Munir and Rodrigo turned the game around. But a few minutes later Luis Suarez scored the equalizer. This game was the best of the season so far, filled with drama. But Undiano Mallenco decided to call a clear penalty after Luis Suarez was taken down inside the box. Messi scored from the spot on the final minute, during celebrations, the Valencia fans threw several bottles to the players with one of them hitting both Neymar and Suarez right on the head.

After the match, Luis Enrique talked about this incident: "I'm not here to assess what some fans can do. It certainly isn't something that the majority of Valencia fans like to see, and me neither. We celebrated a goal as you have to celebrate against an opponent who makes things difficult."

Valencia's official Twitter account also talked about the incident: "Valencia condemns the throwing of a bottle by a fan at a Barcelona player. Violent behaviour is not tolerated and the club will investigate this incident and continue with preventative work in order to avoid this kind of action."
