During the first half of the Europa League final between Liverpool and Sevilla, the Reds were dominating the game and had many opportunities to score more than the only goal they did at the end. But after half time something happened, something inexplicable that all the players and the manager are surely still trying to determine what the problem was. The lack of reaction from the players and the manager was quite unnerving for every Liverpool fan out there.
A day after losing the final, many wondered exactly what manager Jurgen Klopp told his players to help them get through the pain of defeat. Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet revealed exactly what Klopp told them to the Liverpool official website: "Straight after the game he called the lads together and said 'especially the second half, we can learn from these things'. It's not easy straight after the game because everybody is disappointed, you feel that.
"You're looking for the answers, but you can't really find it at this moment in time. The thing is that we have to learn from this and get stronger for it. We're still a young group of lads and we'll get better from this. So short after the game you just feel so disappointed. You don't really know what comes with it. It's very difficult to be objective after this and you just feel the fact that you lost the final - that's the only thing you can describe at this moment. You're looking for the answers that you can't really find at this time."
"I think we go into half-time with the best result we can have. We played good football in the first half, [we] created some chances. You want to build on that in the second half, but it's a big blow to concede that early. You give them their moment in the game and afterwards they played some good football, [they] created chances and scored the goals they needed to win the game unfortunately."
