Jose Mourinho has a nag of ending his relationships with certain players in the worse way possible, if he considers them to be more a burden than any kind of help for the team, he decides to ignore them and disregard their talents. Instead of fighting to help them become better players like a god manager would do, instead he plays with their self esteem and starts to put them on the spot in front of their teammates. That's just the way Mourinho works, he did the exact same thing with Pedro Leon in Real Madrid.
Talking to Goal.com, the new Nigeria skipper John Obi Mikel, revealed some details about his relationship with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. He confessed that the manager stopped trusting him a while ago, as he felt completely ignored by him even during the training sessions. Things escalated to a place where Mourinho could only see flaws in the player, which played a huge role in his own confidence and affected his game.
“I think confidence is everything, if a manager doesn’t believe in you, trust me there’s no way you can succeed. Even if you do things right he would always make sure he finds fault. He didn’t have the belief that he had in me before, which is fine because every manager has the player that they have trust in. It is a tough business, football, so when a manager comes in he wants to have people he believes in. If he doesn’t believe in you he doesn’t play you. And I think it’s all about a manager giving a player confidence.”
