Monaco is only five points behind PSG who leads the Ligue 1 table

Monaco's 2-0 victory against Toulouse has put them within five points of the Ligue 1 lead ahead of their Champions League trip to Arsenal. Breel Embolo and Wilfried Singo both scored goals to give Monaco their ninth victory in 14 French league games. Third-place Marseille, who visit Saint-Etienne on Sunday, is three points behind them.

With Maghnes Akliouche, Takumi Minamino, and Aleksandr Golovin behind him, and 18-year-old striker George Ilenikhena up front, Monaco coach Adi Hütter made some adjustments to his normal lineup. Five minutes into the second half, Singo broke the tie with a set-piece. The Ivory Coast defender made a key header in response to Lamine Camara's free kick. With eight minutes remaining, Embolo scored another header to make it 2-0. Toulouse was 16 points behind PSG, in 10th position. Earlier PSG lost the chance to add more points to their tally after the goalless draw at Auxerre.
