O'Neill delighted with Northern Ireland draw

Northern Ireland manager Martin O'Neill was able to take his national team to the European Championship's round of 16 stage for the first time in their history. A victory against the Ukraine was more than enough to get them past the group stage, they lost against Poland and Germany but they were one of the best third places in the competition. After the results came in from other groups, the Northern Ireland side learned that they would be clashing against Wales in the next round.

Being a part of the four national teams from the British Isles who qualified to the next round in a historic moment, Martin O'Neill wanted to analyze the game and expect for the best against a competitive side such as Wales. But talking to the press, O'Neill was buzzing for being able to avoid the most difficult sides such as England, Italy, Spain or France until the final. He truly feels like his side has a chance of defeating Wales and get far in the competition.

Talking to the press, O'Neill said: "It is going to be a fantastic game. We will be heading back to the Parc des Princes which as we know from Tuesday night [a 1-0 defeat to Germany] is a brilliant stadium. We will benefit from the familiarity of having been there already, of having done the journey and of having played on the pitch. The results put us in what is arguably the more favourable side of the draw, so we are pleased about that. We are in no doubt that it is going to be a tough game against Wales but we will go into the match believing that we can win and that we can progress."
