Now that it's evident that France manager Didier Deschamps just doesn't want Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in the national team, many players and former players have come out and defended Karim from any kind of criticism. He is considered by everyone as the best striker France can have, and having him sidelined due to an off-the-field problem is something people like Robert Pires can't understand.
Just looking at this from the outside perspective, one can realize that Benzema could've helped France achieve the championship at the Euros in their country. Not having Karim Benzema for that tournament was a big mistake, he was the man who could've taken them to glory but pride and morale were much stronger than any kind of decision-related to sports performance.
Talking to Marca, the former Arsenal player said: "I think Benzema is being treated unfairly, but Deschamps is the boss and we must respect him. If I were the coach I would call him up, because he is class. I think Deschamps wants to teach Benzema a lesson while still qualifying for the World Cup. But I think Benzema can help us a lot in the next World Cup."
