Portugal defeated Germany 2-1 and advanced to the UEFA Nations League final thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo. In the semifinals on Wednesday, Ronaldo's goal in the 68th minute was barely enough to give Portugal the victory and break Germany's seven-game winning run. Florian Wirtz's goal for Germany was overturned by Ronaldo and Francisco Conceicao with a five-minute double, giving Ronaldo six goals in his past ten national team games.
Germany dominated play in the first half but failed to score a goal to show for their efforts. However, Conceicao's substitution for Trincao was enough to shift the tide of the match in Portugal's favour. During the second half, Portugal took 13 shots, putting five on target while also limiting Germany to only one shot, which was Wirtz's goal.
