Ranieri thinks Drinkwater will earn his England spot

Danny Drinkwater was arguably one of Leicester City's best players last season when they became champions, his performances were constantly positive and he turned into one of the team's leaders. Everything was set for him to be called-up to play the Euros for England, but at the end Roy Hodgson decided to take Jack Wilshere in his place. The Arsenal midfielder hadn't even played a lot throughout the whole season, it was embarrassing to watch him play the Euros against Iceland.

Drinkwater was heartbroken, but he knows that there will be another chance for him to play with England and this time he won't waste it. For manager Claudio Ranieri, Leicester City doesn't work in the same manner as it does with Drinkwater on the field, his defensive work in midfield is one of the reasons they kept possession for the better part of last season. Talking to the press, Ranieri said that Drinkwater completely deserves to be called-up by Sam Allardyce.

"Danny is a fantastic midfielder. He can now show his quality in the Champions League, I'm very happy with him. The biggest difference from Latin players to English players is this, maybe the Latin players slow down, are very disappointed and don't react immediately, the English players after one hour say 'come on, react' and they react. I think if the player has a very good Champions League then maybe. Maybe he has a good chance. That would be a very good show against the best teams in Europe."
