Another magical night of Europa League at Basel's stadium in Switzerland, was witness to a Sevilla side that proved their greatness in this competition. They were clear favorites to defeat Liverpool FC, they responded to adversity from the first half after Daniel Sturridge's goal and came back from a 1-0 momentary loss to turn the game around and completely dominate the Reds during the second half. This Sevilla side have turned into legends.
The first half was all Liverpool, completely dominated by the Reds with all the offensive football in their favor. Unfortunately, they weren't able to score more than one goal, which came from Daniel Sturridge's left foot with a curled attempt from the left flank on the 35th minute of the match. The first half ended with this result, Liverpool fans were happy and hopeful without any idea of what was about to happen.
Right from the start of the second half, Sevilla didn't even give Liverpool a chance to breathe when Kevin Gameiro scored the equalizer on the first 20 seconds after a Ferreira assist. Then on the 64th minute, Sevilla got the second goal from Coke who curled in a brilliant effort from the edge of the box to turn the game on its head completely. The Reds were completely lost and they were not going to be able to find their way against a Sevilla side who had their ideas quite clear, how unfortunate for Liverpool.
Twenty minutes before the end, Coke got his brace after he smashed the ball in after he found it loose inside the box. This third goal was the final nail on Jurgen Klopp's coffin, he wasn't able to react in time and not even the offensive subs were able to do anything to prevent Sevilla from winning their third straight Europa League and fifth in history. Congratulations to Sevilla for this amazing achievement, only three other teams were able to win three straight European Championships. Ajax and Bayern in the seventies, and Liverpool back in the eighties decade.
