In football, there are very good managers who tend to be very successful, but they lack social skills to get along with the players and form a good relationship. Throughout history there have been many examples of this, there have been reports of Marcelo Bielsa insulting players left and right. In Mexico, Argentine manager Ricardo La Volpe is famous for his problems with other players. But Europe has its own particular cases.
In the Netherlands we have Louis Van Gaal, an outstanding manager who has always been considered one of the best of his country but there have always been cases of players who don't like him on a personal level. Recently talking to Fox Sports, his compatriot and former pupil Wesley Sneijder revealed details of their failed relationship to Fox Sports: "I have always said that Van Gaal is the best coach there is, technically and tactically.
"There is no better coach than Van Gaal. But I think there is room for improvement when you look at the way he deals with his players and staff. I had a perfect time with him on the pitch, as a coach, because his training sessions were the most fun. But as a human being, I have had nothing but trouble with him on a personal level."
