Spain coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed in his press conference following the goalless draw against Serbia in the opening round of the Nations League that Mikel Oyarzabal has a ‘very badly sprained ankle’. The Real Sociedad captain came on in the second half of the international fixture and is likely to be out of the team's return to La Liga when they face Real Madrid.
"Mikel has a severe sprained ankle; tomorrow, we will see how it evolves, we will do the tests and hopefully it will just be a sprain, which is what it looks like," De la Fuente told a press conference.
Oyarzabal, scorer of the goal that won Euro 2024 in Berlin, came on for Ayoze after 57 minutes in the Nations League match against Serbia and was injured in one of the last actions of the match in a collision with the opposing goalkeeper.
