During Uruguay's second Copa America match where they got eliminated by Venezuela, Barcelona striker Luis Suarez fumed after manager Oscar Tabarez refused to send him inside the field. After the match, Tabarez dismissed being upset with the player and understood his reaction because Luis always wants to help his country. But the player still hadn't spoken about the moment, as he did this Sunday, Suarez thanked Tabarez for preventing him from getting exposed to a new injury.
"I want to clarify many things that have been said and are untrue. I am not even at 90 per cent of what I can give. The anger comes from the helplessness of not being able to do anything and seeing that we were being eliminated. It has nothing to do with the coach or anything with the coaching staff. I think the favorites are Argentina, but Brazil are also at a high level as they showed with the 7-1 win against Haiti. We have to see how they do when playing against better rivals."
After Uruguay's last match this Monday against Jamaica, it'll be time for Suarez to get a little bit of vacation for a month, to then go back to Barcelona and start pre-season for the next tournament. Suarez was arguably the best striker in the World last season as he scored 40 La Liga goals, which turned him into the Golden Shoe winner for the second time in his career.
