The unbeaten, high-flying Hammers are top of the Premier League for one night only, courtesy of a hard-fought victory over winless new boys Luton Town at a noisy Kenilworth Road. Jarrod Bowen upped his total for the season to three goals when he handed West Ham United a 37th-minute lead following a Hatters' howler from keeper Thomas Kaminski, scoring for the third time in three games on the road this season.
Kurt Zouma then doubled the Hammers' lead five minutes from time, and while Mads Andersen nodded home late on, it was only a consolation goal as luckless Luton tumbled to the bottom of the league. The Hatters had previously been through a rough start at the Premier League with back-to-back away defeats at Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion, but this was the first opportunity for home fans to watch their team host their first top-flight match since 1992. Unfortunately, the fans will have to wait a while for a win on home grounds.
