Wilmots accepts Nainggolan's smoking habit

You can tell from the get go, that AS Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan isn't the most disciplined character in the world. One of those free souls that love the bohemian life despite playing at the highest level of competition. There are many other athletes in sports history who were like this, they had problems with alcohol or other vices. But perhaps in the XXI century, this is not so common in the mainstream media, that's why finding out about this from a manager comes as a surprise.

In today's sports, there are very few football players who can be considered as party animals who like to have a drink or two, and even like to smoke a cigarette every know and then. A good example is English midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has been spotted several times smoking with his friends at nightclubs. But the latest player to get outed as a smoker is Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan who has been marked as a smoker by none other than his manager.

In a small interview with Sporza, the manager revealed the news about the AS Roma midfielder: "Yes, Radja smokes. It's a habit and a lot of people do it in France and Italy. I am not going to stop him if that's what he needs. I am flexible when it comes to matters like this. It's his body. I'm fine with it so long as he performs out there on the pitch. I always make sure he gets a room with a balcony, so he does not set off the smoke alarm. I think he is the only one at the Belgium national team who smokes. I reckon he would trash his room if we forbade him to smoke five or six cigarettes per day. It's his problem if this means he will have to retire at 30 rather than at 35."
