Croatia makes it to the quarter-finals

Japan got kicked out of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar after Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic prevented three spot kicks as the match was driven to absolution via penalties. After the completion of 120 minutes, the teams were drawn at 1-1 and then arrived the dramatics of the horrible shootout. Croatia lived up to their full potential as they sealed their place in the quarter-finals.

Ren minutes after halftime, a breathtaking Ivan Perisic header from all of 15 yards equalised the scores and, with neither team able to seize a winning goal in the remainder of the 120 minutes. The tie shifted to the agonizing penalty shootout. Takumi Minamino, Kaoru Mitoma and Maya Yoshida—all failed to score a goal from the spot, letting Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic refute their attempts and become the hero who advanced his team into the quarterfinals.
