Filipe Luis reveals why Mourinho was sacked

It is no secret that Jose Mourinho has turned into kind of a trouble maker throughout his managing career in every team he's been. Ever since he arrived in Chelsea you could see that he would not be an easy person to deal with, stories about him putting his players against each other and his constant battles with the press spoke a bit too much of what he really is as a professional. One of the main players who followed him for the type of manager he is, Brazilian Filipe Luis, spoke to Four Four Two about his influence in the players and his personality.

During that interview that will appear in May's issue this year, Filipe revealed that there are a lot of players who can't take the frontal stance he always takes with everyone and the pressure he puts in all his players regardless of their star status at the time. This might be the main reason why he couldn't hold his time at Real Madrid and this is definitely the reason why Roman Abramovich sacked him from the Blues. But for Filipe, football needs more men like the Portuguese manager.

“Speaking about Mourinho is always controversial and there’s always some intrigue surrounding him, but he is an awesome coach who tries to take the maximum from each and every one of his players. I think that’s one of the reasons why he loses the dressing room sometimes. He asks so much of his players that some can’t handle it for too long. In my case, we got along very well and he helped me when I wanted to rejoin Atletico. He’s a very good coach. It’s just a pity I wasn’t able to convince him that I should start for Chelsea.”

“It’s my fifth season now at Atletico and they have been the best years
of my life. I feel at home in Madrid. I have always felt important, wanted and trusted by everyone here. When I left for Chelsea, I wanted to prove that I could play in the Premier League, but it didn’t happen the way I dreamed. When Atletico tried to buy me back, I did everything I could to make it possible. I had offers from clubs in France and Italy but I would not have left Chelsea for any other side – only for Atletico Madrid.”
