Gravenberch Warned as Discipline Key to Liverpool’s Title Push

Ryan Gravenberch may need to show more discipline this season if Liverpool are to maintain their strong start under Arne Slot. The Dutch midfielder has impressed since being repurposed into a defensive role, helping the Reds control transitions and protect their backline. However, his suspension on the opening day against Bournemouth – carried over from last season after a red card for denying Crystal Palace’s Daichi Kamada a clear chance – highlighted the risks of rash challenges.

Without him, Liverpool looked vulnerable and nearly surrendered victory, conceding twice on the counter. Slot will be aware of how crucial Gravenberch’s presence is, but also that a repeat of his previous lapses could leave the side exposed in key matches. If he balances his aggression with composure, the 22-year-old could be one of Liverpool’s most influential players this campaign.
