Pep Guardiola praised Manchester City’s achievement after his side became the first team ever to reach four consecutive FA Cup finals, overturning a late scare to beat Southampton 2‑1 at Wembley. Championship side Saints were on the brink of a first final in twenty‑three years when Finn Azaz struck with eleven minutes remaining, but City responded instantly through Jeremy Doku before Nico Gonzalez sealed the comeback with a superb finish.
Guardiola’s team, beaten in the last two finals, will face Chelsea as they chase a domestic treble, having already lifted the League Cup and remained locked in a tight Premier League title race. The manager admitted his eight changes initially disrupted City’s rhythm, with Southampton controlling the first half, but said the introduction of Doku, Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva transformed the tempo.
