History-making Jordan qualify for first ever World Cup

Jordan have qualified for their first ever FIFA World Cup, 40 years on from their first qualifying campaign.

Al Nashama's place was confirmed by Korea Republic's 2-0 win over Iraq, this after the Jordanians had earlier beaten Oman 3-0 courtesy of an Ali Olwan hat-trick.

Ironically it was Iraq who ended Jordan's quest to qualify for Mexico 1986, but four decades on and Jamal Sellami's side will compete in the USA, Canada and Mexico among the world's elite.

Despite never successfully having made it through a World Cup qualifying campaign before, Jordan have proven themselves to be canny operators this time around losing only one match in Group B to Korea Republic, who currently top the standing.

They will go into the final round of fixtures on Tuesday with ambitions of topping the section by defeating Iraq and hoping the Taegeuk Warriors drop points to Kuwait in Seoul.
