FC Barcelona is looking more frightening than ever on this La Liga opener against Real Betis at Camp Nou Stadium, the Catalan club received last season's La Liga trophy and presented it to all the fans. But it was the first official match day for this new season and everybody expected a top performance from Luis Enrique's side, they didn't disappoint but they struggled for a few minutes during the first half. However, it was Messi as usual, the one who opened up a can of whoop-ass against Betis at the most complicated moment of the match.
The first half started with a fantastic play that Messi started by opening the ball to Jordi Alba on the left, he saw Arda coming in close and sent him the cross for the first goal on the 6th minute. The Turkish midfielder is on fire, he has been scoring goals in the past three matches non-stop. Castro scored a beautiful equalizer on a set piece for Betis and that's when things started getting complicated for the Catalan club. But having Lionel Messi is always the plus in any game, the Argentine had a go from the outskirts of the box and gave Barça the lead again just eight minutes from half-time.
Five minutes later, Sergi Roberto who appears to have the upper hand on the right back saw Luis Suarez and set him up for the third goal with a cross from the right. Barcelona had already sorted out the match before the break, but Messi wanted way more than that. He commanded a clinical counter attack in which he combined with Arda to set Suarez up for his second goal on the 56th minute. Then Messi did another one of those specials, very similar to the goal from the first half that changed the course of the match. Castro pulled another one back for Betis before Suarez got his hat-trick during a set piece, he proved that he can also score with a free-kick with a beautifully curled ball to the top corner. A smashing 6-2 victory for the first day in La Liga.
