Sunderland wins and get Newcastle relegated

It doesn't matter what Newcastle does next weekend against Tottenham, the key game was against Aston Villa last weekend and getting a draw was their final nail on the coffin. The match would end up deciding if Sunderland was the one who would stay in the Premier League, or if they would give another chance to Newcastle for recovery and let everything get decided in the very last match of the season. A victory was all they needed to get there and let the Magpies suffer in their second relegation of the past 7 years.

The first half was incredibly equaled as Everton started controlling the ball a little more than usual, despite playing as a visitor they gave a few scares to Sunderland. But at the 39th minute, Dutch left back Patrick van Aanholt opened the score sheet with a curled effort that went around Everton's wall and beat the keeper Robles to break the deadlock and put the home side on the lead. This goal gave a huge deal of hope to all the Black Cats this evening.

Three minutes later it was Ivorian centre back Lamine Kone who would get that second goal after smashing an effort into the back of the net. There was no way goalkeeper Robles could've stopped that one. With this momentary result, Sunderland was happy and could rest easy for the second half. But another goal would secure the end result and the permanence in the Premier League for next season for good. That came eleven minutes into the second half, as Kone scored his brace after smashing in Khazri's corner kick.

This final result was all Sunderland needed and real bad news for Newcastle, who saw how their last chance of not getting relegated went through the window. The Magpies get their second relegation of the last seven years as they got it back in 2009 when Alan Shearer was the manager of the team.
