Yorke thinks Lallana shouldn't play for England

This opinion might be respected as any other opinion in football, but it doesn't take the controversial side off of it. Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke, is not the only one who believes that Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana doesn't deserve to be called to represent the English national team. And judging on the performances he has given so far, the people who think that may be right after all. Yorke was quizzed by the local press this past Thursday, his claims were incendiary. He actually prefers to play Raheem Sterling before Lallana in any case.

Yorke said: “Lallana doesn’t score enough goals and he’s had chance after chance. At international level, you can’t afford to carry people. He hasn’t really succeeded at Liverpool yet he walks into Roy Hodgson’s team. It’s bizarre. What has he done so far? I know it’s all about opinion but Lallana gives me nothing. He has proven it in the two games he’s played; he has not scored, he has not created a goal. He just hasn’t got it.

“Listen the guy is a decent player, but you are talking about the first eleven for England and he’s in it. It’s madness. I could play against Lallana now and he wouldn’t get past me. He couldn’t out-football me. Sterling would make me look like an old man. Sterling has come in for a lot of criticism. I agree to a point but he is still one of England's better players. He still has to play because he is a threat. You need that threat to push teams back to give our strikers a chance. I'd go 4-4-2 against with Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy up front, Dele Alli on the right and Sterling on the left."
