Flores thinks Simeone knows exactly when he'll quit

He may deny it but right after losing his second Champions League final against Real Madrid in Milano this year, something changed in Diego Simeone. The Argentine knew that after a new heart break it would be nearly impossible for him to convince his players to keep playing. The Atletico board managed to convince him of staying and offered him some big names to sign for the new project, but his results are not what everyone expected by this point.

Ahead of Atletico's next match against Espanyol, Omnisport asked coach Quique Sanchez Flores if he believed Simeone was close to his resignation in Atletico, he responded by saying: "I don't know. I believe he has the right to choose when to finish his time at Atletico. I'm sure he will feel either if his philosophy diminishes amongst the players or if that message remains strong. He's an important guy. He knows who to pick things well so he will know when it is the best time to leave Atletico."

He also talked about his days in Atletico as the manager: "We took part in the early stages of that process when they started winning titles. When we won that first Europa League and also the UEFA Super Cup, we realized that there was a huge potential within the team.  After us, Simeone took over. The squad was considerably improved, so was the budget. They got so many titles. Valencia and Atletico are big teams and when you coach them you realize about their real chances."
