After defeating Arsenal in the Premier League opener last Sunday, Liverpool FC wasn't able to defeat Burnley at Turf Moor. Goals by Vokes and Gray were enough for the locals to get the victory against a Liverpool side that wasn't able to react throughout the 90 minutes. The Reds weren't lucky in front to goal due to an unusual lack of aim, but goalkeeper Heaton was also on point a couple of times during the second half.
With Chelsea and both Manchester clubs winning their first two matches, the Reds have stayed behind with this defeat and pave the way for what we'll be able to enjoy this time around. Manager Jurgen Klopp seemed disappointed for the result, he knows that the players weren't able to find the back of the net due to a combination of bad luck and lack of concentration on the defense.
Talking to Sky Sports after the match, Klopp said: "How can I be happy with this? We had absolutely no luck and everybody needs to be more clinical. We have to accept it. Burnley deserved to win with a very passionate performance. We have to say it was not enough today. When we gave away the first goal they defended for their lives. Both of their strikers Andre Gray and Sam Vokes are really hard workers."
Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum was also saddened for the defeat: "I think Burnley created two chances and they scored two goals. We created chances but they were not big chances. It wasn't good. If you don't score more than your opponent then it is always a concern. We made mistakes. It's sad. At the end of the game we have nothing."
