Sagna still sad for losing the Euros

Many French players who suffered the loss at Stade de France last July, have a lot of healing to do still. They have all decided to take some time off and attempt to forget the horrible experience that is losing an international tournament final as the host, Portugal had that same experience 8 years ago and they really needed a lot of time to heal from it. Luckily for them, destiny smiled back this past summer.

For this France generation of incredibly talented players, it does seem like a matter of time for them to get their shot at redemption. But for the time being, some players are still hurting and with a fresh wound after such a traumatic event they all suffered alongside all their compatriots. Remains from this are still palpable in some players such as Bacary Sagna who talked to the Sun in Romania.

He told them how he feels and how bad he felt for Ronaldo when he fell injured and missing the final: "I'm very upset. I'm thinking about it every day. But that's football. You have to accept losing. I cried after the final because it was a big chance for me to win the competition with my country. I felt bad for Ronaldo, because when such a big player gets injured, it's never good. I think the Portuguese players were thinking about him and wanted to give their maximum for him."

Finally, about his new experience with Guardiola who he will meet after coming back from vacation, Sagna added: "He is very famous all over the world. He is a very respected manager and I'm looking forward to work with him because to me he is one of the best at the moment and I'll try to give my best to learn from him. We will try to grow as a team, step by step and we'll try to end up champions at the end of the season."
