Atletico Madrid smashed Rayo Vallecano 7-0

Alvaro Morata added two more goals after the interval on Monday along with one apiece from Angel Correa and Marcos Llorente. Nahuel Molina and Memphis Depay also scored in the first half. Fans at Vallecas Stadium demanded the resignation of Luis Rubiales, head of the Spanish football federation, as they have in earlier games. Rubiales has come under fire for his actions at the Women's World Cup final, including kissing a player on the lips after Spain won.

After three rounds of La Liga play, Atletico Madrid is now in second position with seven points, two points behind champions Real Madrid, the only team with a perfect start to the season. Atletico's victory against their southern Madrid rivals was a rout. 2012 saw Rayo lose 7-0 to Barcelona at home.
