This past week, the worst news broke for Manchester City, German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan suffered a cruciate ligament injury on his knee and will remain in recovery for at least six months. This ruins all of Pep Guardiola's plans to imprint his characteristic style of football that he is famous for, but Guardiola may have a good option he hadn't considered due to off-.the field issues.
That man is Toure Yaya, a player who can easily replace Gundogan's skills, Guardiola is ready to lay more responsibility on to his talents. Arsenal will be the first big test for the Ivorian player: "You know the reason why Toure was out in the first part. Now he is playing like he can be, like I met him at Barcelona. He is a player with quality. There is no doubt about his quality.
"When his physical condition is right, he can do everything. When he came back, the three games he played we won with him. We decided to stay with Yaya. Since he came back he has helped us a lot. The moment he came back he was part of the team. We have other options too. We have him, Fernando, we have Aleix [Garcia], Kevin [De Bruyne] can play in that position too. Fernandinho is coming back."
